A New Zealand man who was allegedly paid to vaccinate himself instead of others received ten shots in a single day; health authorities have launched an investigation, the New Zealand news portal Stuff reported on Saturday.
Astrid Koornneef , the vaccination officer at the New Zealand Ministry of Health, said: they take the case seriously and are very concerned. He drew attention to the fact that those who do not vaccinate themselves endanger not only themselves, but also their friends, family, community, and the health professionals who once treated them.
The German news agency dpa wrote: Photo identification is not required in New Zealand to receive the vaccine.
A spokesman for the Ministry of Health said earlier: they believe that tightening the identification process would reduce the desire to vaccinate. He added that the majority of those who do not have a photo identification document are from particularly vulnerable groups - the homeless, the elderly, the young, the disabled. He noted: I don't want them to miss out on vaccination because of this.
In New Zealand, people are only allowed to enter many facilities with a domestic vaccination card. About 89 percent of the country's population of five million is fully vaccinated.
New Zealand has so far had 12,783 infections and 46 deaths from the coronavirus, according to the latest data from Johns Hopkins University in Baltimore.
