Lawyer András Schiffer, a former parliamentarian, spoke to Hetek about Pál Völner. It is known: on Tuesday, the chief prosecutor proposed the suspension of Pál Völner's immunity, and the state secretary has already announced that he will resign from his previous position and accept the political consequences of the case. more about the case by clicking here .
The lawyer and former Member of Parliament believes that Fidesz may even profit from the case.
Dictatorship?
Schiffer reminds us: until now, the opposition's rhetoric was that the Fidesz government "is above everything, there is a dictatorship, the chief prosecutor covers the criminals". According to the former member of parliament, however, the chief prosecutor is "now, before the election campaign, asking for the immunity of a Fidesz member of parliament, secretary of state".
On the other hand, in recent years, the parliamentary opposition politicians have dealt very little with executive abuses, inhumanities, and now with calling the Controlled Activities Supervisory Authority to the fore," he said.
Schiffer added that it is "difficult for the opposition to win from here, since Fidesz can easily say - as it does - that the rule of law is working and that the chief prosecutor is impartially pursuing corruption".
