On Wednesday, the city of Sopron celebrated the fact that it was decided in a referendum a hundred years ago that the settlement and its surroundings would remain part of Hungary. Prime Minister Viktor Orbán gave a ceremonial speech at the commemoration.

Sopron and the surrounding villages saw clear, blue skies for the first time after the historic storm clouds. The sun shone for the first time over Sopron, it was here that the heart beat for the first time, and it has been beating ever since. That's why we came here, to give thanks and to say thank you, and to celebrate a little - Viktor Orbán began in Sopron's main square.

As a storm approaches, people are seized with alarm, the Prime Minister pointed out. Can their lives continue as they were before the storm. 100 years ago we had every reason to be alarmed. We lost two-thirds of our country, one-third of the Hungarian people were annexed. We paid the most for the defeat. They wanted to force millions of Hungarians to forget their home, language, culture, and family.

"They wanted us to become someone else or become nobody and nothing. 100 years ago, our country was condemned to death."

A hundred years ago, Sopron indicated with the referendum at that time that it did not wish to participate in this. Hungary survived the fatal blow, he said.

The strength to survive was the strength of the unity of the patriots. The situation is still difficult today, we need the confirming example of the people of Sopron - pointed out Viktor Orbán.

"Millions of people are migrating, an epidemic is ravaging the world, there is an energy crisis, economies are falling apart. They want us to give up our Christian culture. Let's become nothing and nobody. Today this is called the Soros Plan.”

We are preparing for a referendum again - pointed out the prime minister. We want to say no to foreign plans. We want to protect our children from LGBTQ propaganda, just as we protected Hungarians from illegal immigrants. All over Europe, they will see that we dare to say no to Brussels' plans.

It was a hundred years ago that he campaigned against Hungary and for Austria. Even today there are those who do the same - pointed out the Prime Minister, who emphasized: Hungary is moving forward and not backward.
