About sixty people took part in the Christmas celebration of the Biztos Kezdet Children's House in Kecskemét on Friday afternoon.

Katalin Novák, Minister responsible for families, also visited the event, and she even took care of catering for the families. Of course, he did not come empty-handed, he brought small motors and developmental toys for the children. Mayor Klaudia Szemereyné Pataki and deputy mayor Gyula Tamás Szeberényi also arrived packed with gifts, and together they decorated the common Christmas tree of the children's home.

At the ceremony, the children of the Juhász Utcai Kindergarten gave a touching show, greeting the participants with songs and poems. Piarist Father Tamás Balogh said a short prayer of thanksgiving, and then the Christmas celebration ended with informal games and conversation.

There are currently 180 Bizto Kezdet Children's Houses operating in Hungary, of which 107 institutions receive state support. In 2010, the civil initiative program was put under the professional supervision of the Deputy State Secretariat and turned into a national service. Although the service provided by the institutions was started based on the English model, it is unique throughout Europe. In Kecskemét, the Biztos Kezdet Gyerekház in the Mezei Utcai Community House has been offering a low-threshold service on a trial basis since March 2020, and officially since September. The aim of the institution, which operates from local government funds, is to start the socialization of children living in segregation in a timely manner. In this way, they start with a smaller disadvantage in kindergarten and later in school, and have a chance for a better life.
