The Chicago Public Schools (CPS) school district, which maintains Chicago public schools, is committed to the promotion of gender equality and the integration of transgender people, which is why they decided to make all bathrooms in the institutions gender neutral starting December 1st.
An official of the organization stated in relation to gender-neutral toilets,
We are taking steps to create more inclusive and supportive schools. One of these changes that we are introducing this school year is related to the toilets in the schools. In accordance with new federal guidelines, all CPS students and staff will have fair and equitable access to restrooms. Everyone can use a toilet that matches their gender identity," wrote V4NA.
In order for everyone to be able to use all the washrooms according to their identity, they were rebuilt, but teachers and staff of the institution are still provided with separate restrooms, that is, only students have to use gender-neutral washrooms.
