In 2022, families raising children will receive an unprecedented level of financial assistance through tax refunds - said Róbert Zsigó, the parliamentary secretary of the minister without portfolio responsible for families, in a video uploaded to the government's Facebook page on Monday.

"Parents raising children will be refunded their personal income tax paid this year up to the tax level of the average wage," reminded the state secretary.

Before 2010, during the crisis, the left-wing governments took away and cut family allowances. "We do not lose sight of families even in the crisis caused by the coronavirus epidemic, but we support them with all our means," he added.

The measure affects about 1.9 million parents and means a total of about HUF 600 billion in income for the families. This can reach up to HUF 800,000 per person - he explained the data.

The payment is automatic to the parents receiving the family allowance, and the National Tax and Customs Office (NAV) transfers or mails the amount to the address or account number where the family allowance is received.

However, it is important to draw attention to the fact that the refund is not automatic for parents who do not receive family allowance, they must fill out a declaration. This declaration can be found on the NAV website under the name Return declaration - warned the state secretary.

Therefore, the parent who is entitled to family allowance, but does not receive it, must declare - added Róbert Zsigó.

"Therefore, we ask parents who do not receive family allowance to fill out and return the declaration required for a tax refund by the end of December," said the parliamentary secretary of the minister without portfolio responsible for families.
