Johannes Golla is worried "as a person and as an athlete" that homosexuality will be rejected, the athlete told the Frankfurter Allgemeine Zeitung. - can be read on the mandiner.hu portal.
The Frankfurter Allgemeine Zeitung published an interview with handball captain Johannes Golla, who also expressed his opinion on the controversial politics of Hungary, which hosts the European Championship. Golla is aware of Viktor Orbán's anti-LGBTQ policy, and "as a person and an athlete" he is concerned that homosexuality will be rejected. At the same time, he added that the handball players and he, as team captain, cannot influence Hungarian politics, but he supports diversity and that "everyone can be whoever they want to be".
Golla emphasized that this is also very important in team sports, since everyone can only perform "if they feel free". He emphasized that not only footballers, but also "we, handball players, must express our opinion wherever possible and set an example".

How kind, he carries the fate of others on his heart. But what does it have to do with politics in Hungary? In any case, there is no place for politics in sports. This is recognized at the international level as well. And then you shouldn't swear to be an übermensch. And if you don't like what is in Hungary, you don't have to come here.
To the best of my knowledge, so far not a single Hungarian athlete - who has traveled to Germany - has voiced the objectionable politics going on there, because on what basis would he have done so.
By the way, if I were your coach, I would kick you out with both feet, because you are an undisciplined athlete, because he said that everyone can only perform in team sports if they feel free. So on the pitch, everyone does what they want, you don't have to follow the coach's instructions, tactics, and ultimately you don't even need a coach.
So you just throw the ball around so that they are eliminated from the European Championship as soon as possible, and when you return home with a logo on your nose, you can say again: "Wir müssen unsere Meinung sagen" (We have to say our opinion), but only about the performance of you and your team.
