The number of vaccinated people is 6,272,718, of which 5,996,472 people already received the second, and 3,198,951 people already received the third booster vaccination. 6,454 new infected people were confirmed, bringing the total number of identified infected people to 1,276,433 since the beginning of the epidemic.
Most of the 80 who died were elderly and chronically ill, so the number of those who died rose to 39,679. The number of people who have recovered is constantly increasing, currently 1,133,345 people, and the number of active infected people has risen to 103,409 people. 3,101 coronavirus patients are being treated in hospital, 307 of them are on ventilators. The omicron virus variant is also spreading in Hungary. Another vaccination campaign starts this afternoon, and in January there will be a vaccination campaign every Thursday and Friday afternoon as well as on Saturdays, when you can again go to the hospital vaccination points and designated district center specialist clinics for vaccinations without making an appointment in advance.
The first vaccination campaign will take place between Thursday, January 6 and Saturday, January 8. This time, too, you can get the vaccine without an appointment and with on-site registration. We continue to prioritize the unvaccinated and those who received their previous vaccination more than 4 months ago. At the central vaccination points, you can still choose from five vaccines. On vaccination campaign days, people over the age of 12 are welcome at the vaccination points. Vaccination of children aged 5-11 years is still only possible by prior appointment at hospital vaccination points or at family pediatricians. The booster vaccination is recommended for everyone who received the previous vaccination more than 4 months ago. By taking the third vaccination, protection can be increased to 80-90% again.
