Zsigmond Péter Vad, church music teacher, launched his website called koralkonyv.hu just a few weeks ago, which covers the songs sung at Reformed services. The notated and chorded material greatly helps to introduce the new Reformed Hymnal .
As Zsigmond Péter Vad emphasizes on the website: the website is actually an aid to getting to know and using our new Reformed Songbook.
On the website you can find the entire material of the Choral Book of Chorals published in 2018 and 2020, prepared for the old songbook from 1948, as well as the recordings for the songs of the New Songbook that have been processed so far. Each movement has a chordal part and a traditional deposit composed in four parts.
The opportunity to listen to the songs with their first verse on the chord pages can be of great help in getting to know the songs. And organists can listen to elaborate chorale scores on the famous Aquincum organ of the Great Church of Debrecen, on the pages of the "4-part" scores, explains the editor of the website.
As he writes, the creation of the website was driven by two intentions . On the one hand, he wanted to make the material of the Choral Book of Chorals published in 2018 into the public domain. As he writes, this publication - which was also commercially released in 2020 - contains the accompaniment of all the songs of the 1948 Hungarian Reformed Hymnbook with "chords", i.e. notation with numbers and letters. On the other hand, he prepares the chordal accompaniments for the songs of the new Reformatus Songbook published last fall. Here, in addition to sheet music, a music listening function is also available.
In this regard, he explained: "As a church singing teacher and cantor, I consider it my main goal to introduce, announce and spread the good news of the Gospel through the language of music. With the content of this website, I would like to provide help in getting to know and using the new Reformed Hymnal.
"Since an official chorale book has not yet been prepared for the new hymnal, and since composing organ accompaniments has become almost a hobby of mine in recent years, we can also find accompaniments developed in four parts on the website alongside the individual chants. You can also listen to them, performed on the famous organ of the Debrecen Reformed Church," adds Zsigmond Péter Vad, who also serves as one of the organists of the Debrecen Reformed Church.
