32 years ago, as a result of the first free elections, Hungary became an independent, democratic country. Thanks to all those who participated in the reconstruction of the nation.
This year, for the ninth time, the citizens of Hungary who have the right to vote can freely decide to whom they entrust the management of our common affairs.
The Basic Law and the Electoral Procedures Act contain clear provisions for the date on which the President of the Republic can set the general election of members of Parliament.
On the basis of this legal authorization, I set the general election of members of the National Assembly for the earliest date, April 3, 2022.
