The Eger organization of Jobbik decided with the overwhelming majority at Sunday's extraordinary member meeting to dissolve itself and, as they put it, no longer assist as a "bio-set" the campaign of Mátyás Berecz (DK), which they believe is led by the socialist Zita Mirkóczki, Egerinfo reported.
The national presidency of the Jobbik Movement for Hungary will be notified of the self-dissolution and the reasons for it on Monday.
There has been tension between the Jobbik and Berecz teams for weeks, the decision was made unanimously by those present at the extraordinary meeting, with 18 yes votes, the local government portal wrote.
Background
Mátyás Berecz was fired with immediate effect from the István Dobó Castle Museum, where he was chief museologist, because he allegedly did not come to work. According to the opposition member of parliament, they did this for unfounded reasons. Later, the opposition parties supported Mátyás Berecz in a joint statement, but this document was not signed by DK and Jobbik. The municipal news site Egerinfo, quoting an article from Egri Ügyek, wrote that perhaps the two strongest opposition formations backed away from Berecz. DK later denied it in its own sharp statement, egerhirek.hu reports.
Tamás Sneider criticizes the leadership of Jobbik regarding the organization in Eger
"Today, there are practically complete counties left without Jobbik people," commented the former president of the party on the rumors about the Jobbik organization in Eger.
"After fifteen years, an era in the history of the existence of my former party ended with the dissolution of the Eger organization," Tamás Sneider commented on
According to Sneider, "however, one of the decisive weaknesses of the alliance with the left can be seen in this dissolution" , because "those former Jobbiks, who have been known for decades as right-wing, conservative people, would build their own credibility by joining a DK party without batting an eye." behind the counter in the districts where the DK candidate won the primary".
Giving their faces to the promotion of Gyurcsány is simply unacceptable"
- said the former party chairman from Jobbik.
In his Facebook post, Sneider also writes that the current party leadership is also aware of the situation, since in those constituencies where "there is no right-wing candidate, self-dissolution is practically taking place".
This effectively eliminated the party's national coverage, which previously provided the party's strongest weapon and negotiating potential."
- assessed Sneider.
According to the politician, while previously "there was no settlement in the country where there was not at least one active Jobbik member or sympathizer".
Today, there are practically complete counties left without rightists".
