Germany has changed culturally irreversibly, and the new immigration-citizenship law planned by the new Berlin government will only accelerate this process, believes Boris Kálnoky, who gave an interview to Mandiner about German internal affairs and Hungarian-German relations .
If the new German citizenship and immigration law enters into force, the majority of immigrants who arrived in Germany during the 2015-17 migrant crisis will become German citizens. This will encourage further immigration. It will be much easier to get citizenship in Germany, so it will be worth trying. More immigrants are expected to arrive. The time spent in the country to become eligible for German citizenship will be reduced from the current eight to five years. But this can be reduced to three years if the person proves that he has integrated into society, speaks German, has a job and has not committed a crime. There is a Turkish bloc within German society, they have not been able to become dual citizens due to German and Turkish regulations - now they will take advantage of this opportunity, Kálnoky believes.
Socdems and greens can even walk in a pore
Historically, immigrants mostly vote for the left or the Greens, as these parties have always promised to introduce the institution of dual citizenship in the event of their victory. This promise seems to be fulfilled now, which is a good point for them, but at the same time, there is no need to vote for them anymore for this purpose, because it will be enough.
And the typical Muslim immigrant is more socially conservative: religion, family, many children, own apartment, enough money and a Mercedes. Therefore, it is a big question whether, if this promise is realized, this advantage will remain for the Social Democrats and the Greens in the future, explains the head of the MCC Media School.
This ship has already left
According to Kálnoky, immigration is viewed from two perspectives: one is that the economy needs to fill the labor shortage, and immigrants fill this void; and the other is how culturally the country changes because of this. According to him, Germany has changed a lot culturally, this ship has already left. If we look at the schools in the big cities, we see that Germany has turned into an immigrant, multicultural country, with fewer and fewer German citizens of German origin. And this can lead to cultural, social and political changes. There will be no revolution in Germany. I think the Germans will tolerate this peacefully - believes Boris Kálnoky.
