Several founding members of the Székely National Council launched a protest petition.
In connection with the 2022 Romanian census, the Deputy Prime Minister of Romania, Kelemen Hunor, announced that this time it will not be possible for the people of Székely to declare themselves as Székely. At the same time, not only the Székely, but also the Hungarian-speaking Csangó ethnic group were removed from the list of ethnicities belonging to the Hungarians.
We Hungarians, Szeklers and Csángos are brother and sister peoples for thousands of years! Our mother country is Hungary, our mother tongue is Hungarian. As part of the Hungarian nation, we demand, according to international law, the possibility of freely expressing our identity, even according to our ethnicity!
Our brothers at home, in the wider world, are the branches of the same Tree of Life! Don't let our colorful blooming branches be scorched by evil destructive forces!
We demand that during the 2022 Hungarian census in Romania, in accordance with the 2011 census, Hungarian identity can be declared in the following way:
1100 Maghiar of the methodology, list the following ethnic groups:
1101 Maghiar
1102 Ungur
1103 Secui (chair)
1104 Ceangău
Let's get together and support and protect each other with our signatures!
Emőke Benkő – Bardoc
Géza Borsos - Gyergyócsomafalva
Ferenc Gábor - Köröstárkány
Ádám István Miklós Patrubány – Cluj-Napoca
