The economic successes achieved in recent years make it possible for the government to continue its economic development strategy based on tax reductions, said Minister of Foreign Affairs and Trade Péter Szijjártó, according to the ministry's press release.

The portfolio manager participated in the inauguration of Viastein Kft. in Biharkeresztes. The value of the investment of the Hungarian company dealing with the production of construction concrete products is 15 billion forints, for which the state provided a subsidy of 3.4 billion forints, thus helping to create 220 new jobs.

Péter Szijjártó said that the world is over two difficult years, when "the coronavirus epidemic practically took everyone captive: politics, the economy, people." He pointed out that during this period, the news was about factory closures and mass unemployment worldwide, but at the same time, from an economic point of view, Hungary had one of the most successful years of all time behind it.

As an example of this, he mentioned that last year the record of employment, export performance and investments was broken in our country, and this, according to him, would be a serious result even under normal circumstances. "The record decisions and the resulting 6.4 percent economic growth make it possible to continue the economic development strategy of recent years based on tax reductions," he declared. Péter Szijjártó reported that about 40 percent of the new plant will be produced for export, and its handover will give the Hungarian construction industry another boost. He stated that the construction industry has grown into a strategic sector of the economy, which increased its output by 30 percent in 2017, 21 percent in 2018, and 20 percent in 2019.

This expansion was 11 percent until last November. According to his information, 380,000 people currently work in the sector, roughly 100,000 more than ten years ago. "The epidemic opened a completely new world economic era, so the dynamic improvement in the performance of the construction industry came at the best possible time," said the minister. He also touched on the fact that the domestically owned players in the sector are also continuously strengthening and are now producing competitive products on the world market as well.
