The two vaccinations are not enough, everyone can see that today - said Norbert Miklós Wikonkál, the general director of the Honvédkórház, on the current channel M1 on Friday morning.

He said that due to coronavirus infection, there are currently few patients in the intensive care unit of the Honvédkórház, and most of them are patients who have not been vaccinated or who received their last vaccination more than four months ago.

"So, overall, the message is clear: it's not too late to go today, we're even open tomorrow, you can come and get the third vaccination tomorrow, because four months after the second vaccination, protection starts to decrease, and after six months, there is almost no protection" - emphasized the director general.

Regarding the current vaccination drive, he said that people seem to like the fact that they can get the vaccine without making an appointment, because they keep coming.

Norbert Miklós Wikonkál added: it is now possible to consider whether the fourth vaccination is necessary. He explained that it is clearly recommended for people over the age of 60 and those with some chronic disease, such as diabetes or cancer.

When asked, he also said that the national defense's own laboratories also found that the proportion of people infected with omicron is over 90 percent, meaning that the delta variant "only appears as a rare guest".

He added that the omicron can infect the population very quickly, but at the same time it can wear off quickly, and - according to hopes - this could mean the end of the coronavirus epidemic. He noted that although the number of cases is constantly increasing, the omicron variant of the coronavirus is much "milder" than the original Wuhan strain or the delta variant.

He called it unfortunate that the antibody test is becoming more and more popular, because its "scientific yield is very small" and it is not worth drawing conclusions from its results.
