The preparation of the area required for the construction of the pedestrian bridge connecting Várhegy and Szárhegy in Sátoraljaújhely will begin this year. As part of the Tokaj-Zemplén Térség government development program, the Bridge of National Integration, which will be built with more than HUF 4 billion, will stretch 80 meters high and set a world record in its category with its 700 m long structure.
György Wáberer, Chairman of the Tokaj-Borvidék Development Council, government commissioner responsible for the Tokaj-Zemplén region, announced this on his Facebook page.
The bridge, which will be completed by the spring of 2024, will offer a great view in the direction of the Zemplén Mountains and the Highlands.
According to the plans, a glass surface will enhance the experience in the central part of the structure. The destination is Várhegy, which hides the ruins of Újhely Castle. Its archaeological excavation started in 2008 and is still ongoing. The international camp of the Rákóczi Association operates at the foot of the mountain, which plays an important role in strengthening the relationship between the motherland and the separated territories. The attraction will increase the tourist attraction of the city and the region, and the increasing traffic will create jobs.
