The building known as Tito's villa is being sold in Palic. The building, once owned by the Conen family, was built in 1903, and from 1946 it came under the jurisdiction of the municipality. This year, the family's assets were nationalized after the owner Vilmos Jakobcsics Conen was suspected of acts against the people and the state by the Yugoslav authorities.
The building was called Tito's villa from 1950. However, the former marshal only slept there once, in 1963.
The building functioned as a creative house, many writers were able to write their works here on the condition that they then handed over the original manuscript to the Szatka City Library. Dobrica Ćosić also wrote her novels Roots and Dissolution here in 1954 and 1961.
The area of the villa is 234 square meters, it was built in Art Nouveau style, and was designed by Ferenc Raichle . Unfortunately, it is in a very bad condition today and needs a complete renovation. The villa is spread over a plot of 4,233 square meters and is surrounded by pine trees.
Conen Jakobcsics Vilmos was rehabilitated by the Serbian authorities in 2013, which allowed the heirs to reclaim the confiscated villa. By the way, the predecessor of the former November 29 meat factory was also owned by the family.
