Párbeszéd wants Márki-Zay not to be taken into account when discussing the number of places on the list, while the DK-Jobbik-Momentum-LMP quartet argues for the opposite.
The meeting of the leaders of the six opposition parties, supplemented by the delegates of Péter Márki-Zay, on the establishment of the opposition list ended without results, ATV wrote The portal also believes that the fate of a single mandate and the parliamentary status of Péter Márki-Zay are now the main breaking point.
On Tuesday, the parties sat down at the negotiating table again, which was mostly necessary because the parties have not yet managed to agree on the number of mandates listed by the MSZP and Párbeszéd. The number of places on the lists of the two parties has long been a subject of debate during the opposition negotiations, considering that the MSZP alone wanted as many places on the list as would be allocated to Momentum, while the joint proposal of DK, Jobbik, Momentum and LMP is that in total, there should be as many running places for the socialists and the Dialogue as there will be for Momentum.
The paper says that a compromise was reached between the parties at the end of January, at which time the Socialists would have been satisfied with seven seats compared to Momentum's eight, so if we count two in the case of Párbeszéd, then the debate is about a total of one mandate. Now the story took another turn, because
the delegates of the MSZP and Párbeszéd did not go to the last six-party meeting, nor did they respond to the messages received from the other parties.
ATV also writes that the convergence of positions is made difficult by the inclusive statement that Párbeszéd gave to Péter Márki-Zay. The essence of this is that if the opposition's joint prime minister candidate enters the parliament, he will take a seat in the Párbeszéd faction. Párbeszéd wants Márki-Zay not to be taken into account when discussing the number of places on the list, while the DK-Jobbik-Momentum-LMP quartet argues for the opposite.
The national lists must be submitted to the National Election Commission by the afternoon of February 26, so the parties still have two weeks to agree on the final order.
