Last year, the Hungarian economy grew by 7.1 percent, making 2021 the largest annual growth in Hungarian economic history, Minister of Finance Mihály Varga announced at a press conference in Budapest on Tuesday.

Commenting on the statistics published this morning, the head of the ministry emphasized: the data definitely show two things, on the one hand, it has been proven that the economic policy based on tax reduction, support for families and businesses, and investments is effective.
These enable rapid recovery even after a crisis, he said. He pointed out: compared to the EU, the Hungarian economy had an outstanding performance in 2021. This year, according to the ministry, the increase could be 5.9 percent.

Hungary's gross domestic product (GDP) increased by 7.1 percent in 2021 compared to the previous year, and by 2.1 percent compared to 2019, the KSH announced on Tuesday.
