An incredible system has developed in American higher education, a culture of fear. They call him silenced, Nazi, racist, Peter Boghossian, who was expelled from the University of Portland, Oregon, by representatives of the woke leftist ideology, said in an interview with Magyar Nemzet.
"He resigned from the University of Portland last fall." Why?
- Because the atmosphere has become more and more intolerant, hostile and malicious for me. I could no longer work there in good conscience. In particular, I taught philosophy, including ethics and critical thinking. My work became impossible. They constantly tracked me down and harassed me, so I quit. The value system of the entire institution no longer reflected what I had come to do many years ago. It's become such a craze that please include references in this article so that your readers can verify them from an independent source!
"Give me an example!"
- The president of the university said that racial justice is the institution's number one concern. Not one aspect, but number one! This is madness. I would add that the University of Portland is currently in a deep financial crisis. So, according to him, it is not the first thing to balance the budget or to strive for professional excellence. Racial justice comes first!
– Oregon is one of the most liberal states in America. Is your experience different from what we hear from New York, Los Angeles, and other liberal big cities?
– It is true that there are places where the situation is even worse, and it is better in rural, republican states, but as a rule of thumb, this way of thinking affects all of them to some extent.
His resignation was not only news in America. What happened after that?
– I did not think that this would become news abroad. But psychologist Jordan Peterson at the University of Toronto and others elsewhere have resigned because of left-wing ideology. What happened to me? I've been sleeping better since then. Less stress and tension. I got a job at the University of Texas at Austin, in a completely different environment. I think the task of a university is to search for the truth, and I found that environment here.
- They say that together with his co-authors, they portrayed the left-wing American university world with their studies on sexual violence between dogs and the feminist Mein Kampf. Was the string not stretched too far?
- For years, it was known in the profession, and even beyond, how badly the system works. They created their own literature in order to forge ideological and political capital from it. This has nothing to do with reality, it is essentially a fiction. Ideology masquerading as science. To expose this, we already wrote a study in 2017, the title of which was: The conceptual penis as a social construct . A complete nonsense. Among other things, we made the penis responsible for climate change. We have published about twenty such studies in total. I became a heretic, a disloyal one according to their logic.
- He also deals with the analysis of pseudoscience and fake news. What are these?
– These are usually ideologically motivated, while the task of science is not to support the hypothesis, but to refute it. There is a lot of disinformation, and the media world is extremely polarized. Some people believe that the Earth is flat, others in Nazi physical anthropology. More recently, gender studies are such pseudosciences.
