Announcement of the Ministry of Human Resources: Hungary welcomes and cares for all Ukrainian refugees, the government provides accommodation and, if necessary, medical and hospital care for refugees.
24 hours a day, mobile medical teams are waiting for the refugees at the collection points on the border, they ensure the refugees' health screening, care, coronavirus testing and, if necessary, organize their hospital care. Since the start of the wave of refugees, a total of nearly 100 refugees have requested hospital care, most of them shorter outpatient care. Currently, 14 people are in hospital, 9 of them are children.
The medical teams work at the collection points in Tarpá, Fehérgyarmat, Mándok, Vásárosnamény, and Aranyosapáti, where, in addition to the registration of the refugees, they provide their health screening and, if justified, a medical examination, and organize their hospital care if necessary. Mobile medical teams are provided by the Szabolcs-Szatmár-Bereg County Hospital in Mátészalka, Fehérgyalmati, Vásárosnamény, and Nyíregyháza, as well as the Szent Damján Greek Catholic Hospital in Kisvárda. The healthcare teams consist of a doctor, a senior nurse, a nurse and an administrator, and the teams work in two 12-hour shifts.
At the collection points, refugees are assessed to see if they have been vaccinated or if they are requesting vaccination. A test is performed on unvaccinated refugees, those showing symptoms of coronavirus infection, and everyone who requests accommodation in a refugee accommodation. In case of confirmed infection according to the protocol, the epidemiologic authority is also notified, which orders a quarantine, and in case of more serious symptoms, the patient is taken to the hospital.
Refugees who plan to settle in Hungary and arrange their accommodation individually can contact the regionally competent health service provider, while for those who will be accommodated in mass accommodation, we also provide medical care and medical care there.
In addition to the medical teams deployed by hospitals, charitable organizations also help with medical tasks.
