In accordance with tradition, the CÖF club Miskolc commemorated the Székely Freedom Day this year as well. Given that March 10 now falls on a working day, a Thursday, the commemoration was held earlier, on the 6th. We quote from the celebratory speech given there, from the thoughts of László Vass.
"On the basis of the decision of the Székely National Council of January 6, 2012, the memorial day held on March 10 of each year is the day of the unity of Székely.
Since this day falls on a weekday this year, we are celebrating today (Sunday) for technical reasons, so that there are more people.
In 2013, according to the organizers' estimate, around thirty thousand people gathered, and later there were also mass events on this day, despite the fact that the mayor's office of Marosvásárhely and the state authorities tried to prevent the parade from taking place in later years, and imposed hefty fines on the organizers on several occasions. and the participants. The Izsák Balázs invalidated the fines with dozens of lawsuits and won the right to march because, as he put it, "Székely freedom is an ideal that had to be fought for over centuries".
We also support this ideal in our own way, with our possibilities and tools.
Several people are already familiar with the way I use this commemoration, but I will tell it again for the sake of the new members. In 2015, I felt for the first time that, similar to the Great March of the Székelys, but obviously in much more modest circumstances, it is necessary to show the world that we are here in our narrower homeland, who feel with them, consider their aspirations important, and remember the holidays with respect.
I also manufactured an ideology for my decision, and it seems that this has proven to be acceptable to this day. According to this, we used to start from my apartment, and now that there are so many of us, now from the City Hall square, from the beginning of our country's founding king St. István, as a symbolic Motherland, we will walk through the city and arrive at my plot of land, which I consider to be symbolic of Székelyföld.
In the meantime, we pay our respects in several famous places, such as the National Flag in Népkert, or in front of the Millennium Monument in Hejőcsaba, and at the end we relax in my little Szeklerland here with a glass of wine.
We are going on this journey soon.
Dear friends!
Thank you for coming!
That's why we came here today and why we're starting our solidarity walk, to show our Székely brothers and compatriots that we have common feelings and, although our paths are partly different, our goals lead us in the same direction!
I wish you to feel the importance of my intention, the goodness inherent in it, and also to feel good about yourself in this early spring gathering and spread the word about our cause widely!"
