The position of the Visegrád countries is clear: the Czech Republic, Poland, Hungary and Slovakia also want peace, for the war in Ukraine to end as soon as possible and for security to be restored in Central Europe, Minister of Foreign Affairs and Trade Péter Szijjártó stated in London on Tuesday.
According to the ministry's statement, the minister reported before the V4-British summit that the position of the four countries is clear, as they all bear a lot of burden due to the humanitarian crisis.
"There are already a lot of refugees in Poland, Slovakia and Hungary, and some of them have of course traveled on to the Czech Republic," he pointed out, adding that when they started organizing this meeting, they could not yet prepare for the current security situation.
Péter Szijjártó emphasized that although it is less talked about these days, the coronavirus pandemic is still not over, many countries are still struggling with this challenge, and there is still not enough vaccine.
Therefore, Hungary is donating another hundred thousand doses of Moderna's vaccine to Thailand in order to increase the local vaccination rate, and with this the number of doses donated to the Southeast Asian country reaches half a million, he announced. According to his information, Hungary has so far helped seventeen countries with a total of 4.2 million vaccine doses.
"If we can increase vaccination rates worldwide, the chance of developing new variants will continuously decrease, and then at least we will be able to overcome this challenge. There are enough security challenges, we don't even have to deal with a health and economic crisis," said the minister.
