Within the framework of the program, the preservation of the built heritage values and the authentic presentation of the monuments are realized at the same time.

The castle building was commissioned by Count Frigyes Wenckheim and his wife, Countess Krisztina Wenckheim, based on the designs of Miklós Ybl, in 1875-79 in a historicizing, mainly German Neo-Renaissance style. The clean space organization resulted in spacious, representative spaces that serve community life well. Parallel to the construction of the castle, a multi-hectare landscape park was created around it, which has been protected since 1949. On the south side, there is a French garden under the terrace, with an ornamental fountain in the center.

The Wenckheim couple raised seven children on the Szátkygyós estate, and were also famous for their extensive social life. They welcomed thousands of guests in the castle, as evidenced by the many thousands of entries in their surviving Kygyós guest book.

The main goal of the project was to utilize the castle for tourist purposes. As part of the reconstruction, the ground floor of the building was completely renovated and restored, and an experience-based exhibition enriched with innovative, interactive elements and tools was created, the central theme of which was the presentation of the extensive social life of the count couple.
