The celebration of World Water Day was initiated at the 1992 environmental conference in Rio de Janeiro. As a result, the UN declared March 22 as this day, drawing the attention of governments, organizations and individuals to the important role of water in our lives. Since then, one of our most feared treasures, water, has been celebrated worldwide on this day.
The goal is to preserve and protect our environment, including the Earth's water resources.
Water Day focuses on a different topic, highlighting the important role of water in many areas of life. In 2022, the World Day will focus on groundwater, its slogan:
Making the invisible visible
The presence of water determines our daily life, we take it for granted that good quality drinking water is always available in sufficient quantity. As a result, we often do not relate to our being as it deserves. We often waste, do not take care of our environment, thereby polluting our surface and underground waters. Unfortunately, it may have unforeseeable consequences if we do not change this behavior soon. The fate of our present and future generations depends, among other things, on how we manage our existing water resources on Earth, how we protect and utilize our water.
In increasingly large areas of the Earth, fresh water is less than what is needed by the people living there, and this is a source of conflicts and tragedies. Humanity entered the 21st century with the burden of a water crisis. century, from which a way out is only possible through a change of attitude and immediate action.
March 22 is therefore a good opportunity to think about what water means to us, as a symbol of life, which we can rightly consider the cradle of life.
