Mi Hazánk files a complaint for a crime against the electoral system after Facebook deleted the party's official page in the last week of the election campaign, the deputy president of the opposition party announced in Budapest on Tuesday.
Dóra Dúró stated: Facebook has thereby provided further evidence that it is consciously interfering in the Hungarian parliamentary election. In addition to the report, they will also file a report with the National Election Commission, because they consider it unprecedented that Facebook deletes the page of a party that is able to present a national list in the midst of the campaign, the politician added.
He drew attention to the fact that the "censorship" of a page through which the party reached half a million people in the past period was removed, which means that the measure will clearly influence the final result of the election.
Facebook also terminated the Facebook profiles of all their administrators, so their employees cannot use the Messenger messaging app either, he added.
Dóra Dúró said: Facebook only justified the action by saying that the social principles were violated on the page, but they did not indicate any specific content or post that triggered the action.
He reminded that: in the run-up to the European Parliament election campaign, Facebook deleted the page of László Toroczkai, the leader of the party's list, with 207,000 followers. This number of votes would also have resulted in a mandate for the European Parliament, that is, there was a clear interference in the election, the opposition politician stated.
According to his statement, since then, the name of the party's current candidate for prime minister cannot be written down, nor can his face be displayed, and even his voice is banned on Facebook. In this situation, László Toroczkai filed a lawsuit against Facebook; the verdict of the first degree is expected for next week - said Dóra Dúró.
