Poisoning occurred in the lake in Városliget, which - since the fish from the Japanese garden on Margitsziget were relocated here a few days ago - destroyed the fish stocks of two lakes on Wednesday.
It is not yet known exactly how and what kind of poison got into the water.
The cleaning of the Margitsziget lakes and the stream connecting them took place during these weeks, and one of the biggest challenges for the gardeners was saving the fish. Since the pond system of the Margitsziget Japanese garden had to be drained for the duration of the cleaning, the fish were relocated to the lake in Városliget.
However, on Wednesday, a chemical of unknown origin and composition got into the water of the Városliget lake, which killed all the fish, they wrote. They added that some of the turtles survived the poisoning, but their condition is not yet known.
