The work of the Civil Justice Committee, founded by CÖF-CÖKA, basically involves the presentation of crimes committed during communism that have not yet been investigated and thus remained without consequences. Compared to the previous sources cited above, the number of those executed increased by one person, so the correct number of martyrs in 1956 according to the current state of the research (2021 10 19) is 233, while the total number of those executed (between 1945-1988) is 1,232. they show the state of the source at the time it was created.

Tibor Zinner's oral communication recording the present situation, 1,232 convicts lost their lives in Hungary between February 4, 1945 and July 14, 1989, by the execution of final death sentences, the number of those executed was approx. it may increase by another ten, the research is not yet complete.

Explanation of * for five people:

László Eörsi argues that – in contrast to previous findings of fact – there were actually five fewer people who were executed for acts related to '56. We have marked with an asterisk the five persons whose names Eörsi left out of his book, but whose names we listed above.
