The rock opera Mária evangeliuma will be presented at the Csiky Gergely Theater in Kaposvár on May 3, and at the Margitsziget Theater in Budapest on Whit Monday, June 6. The audience can also see it at other summer venues this year.

The performance of LantArt Produkció was created in co-production with the Győr National Theater and the Csiky Gergely Theater in Kaposvár, directed by Tamás Juronics. According to the plans, the play will be presented in other locations, including Debrecen and Tokaj in August, producer Anikó Lantos said at the press conference of the play on Tuesday.

The musical piece by László Tolcsvay, Péter Müller and Péter Sziámi Müller, presented 30 years ago, will be performed with a live orchestra.

The jubilee performance of the rock opera was held on April 16, Easter Saturday, at the National Theater in Győr. The audience could see Barbara Bordás, Sándor György-Rózsa, Pál Feke, Péter Novák and Kristóf Ódor in the main roles.

This cast will also be seen at the premiere in Kaposvár, while Nikolett Füredi will debut as Mária and Dénes Kocsis as Jesus at the Budapest premiere at the Margitsziget Theater.

The Szeged Contemporary Ballet and the orchestra and choir of the Győr National Theater take part in the performance, and the musical director of the production is Werner Gábor.

"We are happy to join any initiative that creates value," said Péter Fülöp, director of the Csiky Gergely Theater in Kaposvár, deputy state secretary of the Ministry of Human Resources.

Teodóra Bán, the managing director of the Margitsziget Theatre, highlighted at the press conference: the play was presented on the Margitsziget in 2006. As he said, the Margitsziget Theater offers tickets every year on the occasion of Teacher's Day. This year, tickets for the Gospel of Mary are provided for teachers, who can take advantage of this opportunity through the Ministry of Human Resources.

In view of the great interest, according to the plans, the play will be shown again in September, Teodóra Bán announced.

At the press conference, composer László Tolcsvay recalled: the play was based on Péter Müller's novel about the life of Mária Szűz, born in 1989-90, and was presented at the Madách Theater.

He talked about the fact that this time the Gospel of Mary will be performed for the first time as a theater performance accompanied by a live band. “For a composer, this is a very big gift,” he said.

Director-choreographer Tamás Juronics said: in the performance, people of today act out a mystery story. They place a maternal destiny in the center, human relationships, aspects and feelings are important to them.

As he said, Balázs Cziegler's spectacular scenery evokes the era, but at the same time, the historical memories are held together by modern, modern construction scaffolding. Benedek Mari's costumes represent today's era.

The main supporter of the creation of the production is the Ministry of Human Resources.
