Nearly eight hundred dancers from about two dozen folk dance groups performed at the rich program of the Slovakian Hungarian Dance Meeting held in the Tiszti pavilion in Komárom. Among other things, the participants of the meeting were awaited by a dance hall, dance education, folk dance demonstration, handicrafts, and performances.

"The most significant event of the professional association that also represents the interests of the Hungarian folk dance ensembles in Slovakia is the Slovakian Hungarian Dance Meeting, which is the only major festival at the national level," Gábor Gálik , head of the Dance Forum - Slovak Hungarian Folk Dancers' Professional Association, the main organizer of the dance meeting, when asked by Felvidék.ma

Nearly eight hundred members of twenty-eight folk dance groups performed on the festival's program. As the main organizer noted, even in the nineties it was a tradition to organize dance hall meetings in the Highlands. Then, around the turn of the millennium, the army review was paused for several years. In 2018, the idea to reorganize came.

"We felt that in addition to the National Folk Art Festival to be held in Zzelíz during the summer, there is a need for dance hall meetings, as they provide a great opportunity to introduce themselves to the member organizations of the Dance Forum".

The festival, which took place on May 6 and 7, awaited the audience with a very rich program offer. In this regard, the main organizer explained that they tried to cover several segments of popular culture. Of course, the focus was on dancing…

...The event was realized with the support of the Sándor Csoóri program and the Minority Cultural Fund, and its professional partner was the Martin György Folk Art Association and House of Traditions Network - Slovakia.
