"The majority of Budapest residents support the pedestrian development of the lower wharf in Pest!" Gergely Karácsony stated in his Facebook post The mayor says:
"a downtown section of the Pest quay can be transformed into a completely pedestrian, car-free promenade."
"Nearly a fifth of the respondents are completely car-free"
In his post, the mayor refers to a recent public opinion poll, in which he writes, among other things, that nearly a fifth of the respondents want a completely car-free, pedestrian quay.
Because perhaps the most beautiful part of the city is not meant to be used as a highway,
but so that we can all admire the beauty of the Danube and the Buda skyline," says the mayor.
As he writes: "thank you to everyone who supports the pedestrian development of the quay, and who we have not yet managed to convince, should visit the quay on one of the weekends and enjoy this unique city, Budapest!" - concludes the mayor's entry.
