The police and soldiers took action against 1,413 border violators from Friday to Sunday, the National Police Headquarters informed MTI.
On Friday, 480 on Saturday, and 440 on Sunday, 493 foreigners illegally staying in the country were arrested and escorted through the temporary security border barrier by soldiers and police.
In the last full week, 3,533 border violators were arrested and escorted back across the country - the most so far this year. In the previous week - from May 16 to 22 - the number of people detained was 3,426. In addition, in the past week, six border violators were arrested at the Croatian, Romanian, and Ukrainian borders and in the interior of the country, against whom immigration police proceedings were initiated. Proceedings have been initiated against 44 suspects for human trafficking, according to the police summary.
