On the day of national unity, the M5 pays tribute to the memory of Trianon with a large-scale historical drama. The speech - Apponyi in defense of the Hungarian cause, presenting the circumstances of the signing of the Trianon peace decree that mutilated Hungary, will be shown on the cultural channel of the public media on the evening of June 4.
The victorious powers intended the most severe punishment known to historical Hungary in the modern era: in January 1920, in Paris, the Hungarian peace delegation was confronted with the peace terms of the Allies. The delegation led by Albert Apponyi was given only one day to formulate its counter-arguments against the strict conditions: this is how one of the most influential speeches in Hungarian history of the 20th century was born.
On the 100th anniversary of Count Albert Apponyi's speech, in 2020, a documentary film was made about the historically significant speech, produced by Gábor Kálomista, starring Zoltán Rátóti and actor Zsolt Dánielfy. national unity, June 4, from 10:20 p.m.
The purpose of the film is to remind that Hungarians must face their painful historical past, and also to show the future generation how they wanted to destroy the country with an unjust decision 102 years ago.
