With a spectacular parade of hundreds of dancers, the first Sándor Csoóri Folk Art Festival began in Budapest, on Szentáromság Square.

"Sándor Csoóri would be very happy if he could see this now," emphasized János Csák, the Minister of Culture and Innovation, at the opening event of the festival, which takes place at more than thirty locations in the Carpathian Basin at the same time, in Trinity Square.

He added: "Sándor Csoóri knew that a person cannot live without ties, that we have to belong somewhere, and for us this place is our Hungarian country and Hungarian culture." Those who do not value their past, ignore their future, inheritance also comes with responsibilities and obligations, he emphasized.

János Csák stated that the participants of the festival "testify to the potential of the Hungarian spirit and soul for the future", and also assured the participants that the Hungarian government is aware of this intellectual and spiritual heritage and will do everything to nurture and preserve it for many generations. .

Júlia Balogh, the widow of Sándor Csoóri, recalled in her festive greeting that the Sándor Csoóri Foundation was launched by the Hungarian government in 2017 with the intention of making as many people as possible realize that even in today's modern world there is a place for the most ancient branch of cultures, folk art .
