The European Patent Office (EPO) awarded biochemist Katalin Karikó the 2022 European Inventor Award. Forbes reported .

The economic magazine explained that the Hungarian scientist received the award on Tuesday. The prize - which is one of Europe's most prestigious innovation awards - is given to inventors who have contributed to the development of society with their exceptional knowledge.

"Katalin Karikó's career is a good example of how persistent work results in great things, and how well-thought-out, consciously pursued research topics bring significant results not only for the scientist, but also for society," said Gyula Pomázi in connection with the award. The Hungarian equivalent of the current European prize, the Jedlik Ányos prize, was previously awarded to the Hungarian researcher, who has also received countless other recognitions in the past 2 years, the portal reminded.
