Gergely Karácsony would brutally increase the parking fees in Budapest, making life even more difficult for motorists in the capital.

The capital would be divided into 4 zones, parking in the inner zone would cost HUF 600 for one hour. According to the president of the legal committee of the car club, there is no professional reason for Gergely Karácsony's plans, it was said in the M1 news channel. The capital's motorists were outraged and shocked by Gergely Karácsony's latest idea, with which they would not only transform, but also increase parking fees in Budapest.

Deputy Mayor Ambrus Kiss announced on Thursday that the capital would be divided into 4 parking zones from the beginning of September, and prices would also be raised. However, even Kiss Ambrus did not know exactly where the borders of the zones would be.

If the plans of Gergely Karácsony's deputy are implemented, parking in the first zone between 8 am and 10 pm would cost HUF 600 per hour, which is 15 percent more expensive than the current price.

In the second zone, HUF 450 would have to be paid between eight in the morning and eight in the evening, in the third the hourly fee would be HUF 300 from eight to six in the afternoon, and in the fourth zone, also between eight in the morning and six in the evening, parking would cost HUF 200 per hour.

Another restriction is that motorists could only park for a maximum of three hours in the first, second and third zones.

In addition, the capital led by Gergely Karácsony would increase by 10 percent the areas where you would have to pay for parking. And most of the revenue would still go to the coffers of the typically left-wing districts.

Increasing the paid parking area, raising the prices, and extending the paid hours are another chapter of the capital's campaign against motorists led by Gergely Karácsony

– Kázmér Kovács talked about this on M1.

The chairman of the Legal Committee of the Hungarian Automobile Club emphasized that the current significant price increase is not supported by any professional reason and is just another joke imposed on motorists.

"The left-wing capital can further increase the traffic chaos in Budapest by restructuring the parking system, which includes a brutal price increase."

– Origo wrote about this.

According to the portal, life is already difficult for motorists in the capital due to gigantic traffic jams. Due to Gergely Karácsony's ill-organized and ill-considered measures, it is almost impossible to drive even on the walkable sections of the lower quay in Buda and Pest, moreover, under the leadership of the left-liberal mayor, Budapest also joined the anti-car program in Brussels, which, among other things, would ban cars from even more places than before and it would also reduce speed limits.

Origo concludes that not only Gergely Karácsony, but also several left-wing districts are anti-car, which culminated in Erzsébetváros led by DK's Péter Niedermüller when the transformation of the traffic order practically made it impossible to drive by car.
