Due to the wartime inflation and the failed sanctions policy in Brussels, everyone has to participate in a new kind of burden-bearing, including the parties and the factions - Máté Kocsis spoke about this in the Parliament on Tuesday in the debate on the transformation of faction financing rules.

Máté Kocsis said that due to the war that broke out in the neighborhood, it was necessary to create the overhead protection and national defense funds in order to protect the economic results so far. Due to wartime inflation and the failed sanctions policy in Brussels, everyone has to participate in a new kind of burden-bearing, including parties and factions, added the Fidesz faction leader.

He also said that if the parliament continued to function under the current rules, it would still cost the left and the right 3 billion forints more each. According to the proposal, three billion forints will be taken from the left and two billion from the right. Up until now, an opposition representative cost 1.6 times more than a pro-government faction representative. From now on, a left-wing representative will cost more, but the proportions will change, said the Fidesz faction leader.

The support rates jumped because the left-wing parties formed six factions, while four would not even enter the parliament on their own.

Máté Kocsis explained that the will of the voters will be better enforced through the new calculation method. The voters did not vote for the formation of factions, but for lists. Everyone must participate in bearing the common burden so that the burdens of the Hungarian people are reduced, said the politician.

The government supports the proposal

Róbert Répássy, the State Secretary of the Ministry of Justice, indicated that the government supports the bill and its goals.

Róbert Zsigó, the leader of Fidesz, spoke about the need to reduce the operating costs of the parliament and factions in the current war-time inflation situation. He stated that the left is only interested in power and money, which is why they resorted to creating factions.

There are currently serious disproportionalities regarding the financing of factions, as compared to the previous cycle, fewer left-wing representatives earn more than in the previous cycle.

While the left lost 800,000 votes in April, it would earn HUF 3 billion more than in the previous cycle

said Zsigo. This is completely unfair, especially in the current war inflation situation, he added. The proposal introduces a new complex calculation, which will make the support system fairer, but the opposition representatives will still get more, said Zsigó.

Gergely Arató, a Gyurcsányist representative, launched an attack on the transformation of the asset declaration system. According to him, the adoption of the European Parliament system is not good. According to Arató, Fidesz forced the left to run together in the election. In the end, the Gyurcsányist representative announced that they would not vote on the proposal to ensure joint burden-bearing.

Imre Vejkey, the leader of the KDNP, called the move of the left led by Gyurcsány an abuse of rights, as they split into six factions. He considers the adoption of European Parliament rules in the asset declaration system a deepening of EU integration.
