Unknown sides of Ujhelyi: infrastructure, transport and tourism
This year, István Ujhelyi won the award in the infrastructure, transport and tourism category, primarily in recognition of his work in the implementation and development of the free InterRail pass program, as well as his work for the tourism sector, which has been heavily affected by the coronavirus epidemic, as the vice-chairman of the EP committee responsible for tourism. In 2017, the MSZP politician also won the award in the transport category.
In his statement to MTI, István Ujhelyi wrote: winning the award
"the most important confirmations of the effectiveness of my work in Brussels".
According to his words, it was clearly recognized in Brussels that, on behalf of the Hungarian people, many pioneering programs, such as the European Health Union, the free InterRail pass program, or initiatives strengthening the cooperation of professional tourism organizations, finally managed to put on the table meaningful initiatives that bring European attention to the sector. - added István Ujhelyi.
