Illegal migrants are increasingly armed.
If people leave their homes, the property becomes free prey, practically nothing is left but the demolished walls, but if they stay there, they risk becoming innocent victims in an armed conflict like the one on Saturday, stated József Horváth, for Fundamental Rights Center's security policy expert.
There have already been signs of this in recent months, József Horváth told Magyar Hírlap about the armed conflict that took place on Saturday, in which Afghans and Pakistanis clashed near the Hungarian border, near Szabadka in Serbia.
The security policy expert of the Center for Fundamental Rights added that the recording of the technical system of the border fence showed that the organized criminal groups guiding illegal migrants appeared around the border with edged or deactivated weapons, Kalashnikovs, and pistols. On the other hand, it is also obvious that since the Hungarian border it is very strictly guarded, there is also a very strong struggle between organized criminals, since it does not matter who can take their people across which section of the border. He added that there is a rivalry between them, which has now turned into an armed struggle.
Horváth explained: these criminal gangs, organized on the basis of countries of origin, try to obtain security zones that, in their opinion, are easier to violate, where they have a better chance of taking people over, since they collect fees of three to five thousand euros per person from illegal migrants in the hope of getting them through the to the territory of the Union.
A 26-year-old Afghan man, who is suspected of murder, was arrested by the police, however, according to the security politician, these people calculated that they could end up in court, and this is treated as a risk. On the other hand, let's not forget that the European prison for an Afghan man means sanatorium conditions with some exaggeration, so it is not a deterrent if they end up in prison here.
Horváth sees the situation of people living in border areas as very difficult, because if they leave their homes, their properties become free prey, they are taken over by illegal migrants and organized criminal groups within days or weeks, and on the one hand they sell the movables or use them as firewood, on the other hand accommodation, cooking and laundry are arranged there. After them, there is practically nothing left but the destroyed walls, so the property becomes worthless, so leaving it is as if the fruits of the work of several generations were handed over for free. If they stay at home, they risk becoming innocent victims in a similar armed conflict, he added. He emphasized that local law enforcement agencies have a greater responsibility to protect the population.
Illegal migrants are increasingly carrying weapons, which the security policy expert said, on the one hand, during the Balkan war, when Yugoslavia broke up, handguns reached the population practically without control, which they can sell on the black market. Now another source has opened up, since in Ukraine Kalashnikovs were distributed without any registration along with hundreds of live ammunition, so it is a quick solution for organized crime to get access to live firearms if they have a sufficient financial base, Horváth pointed out.
