An unprecedented heat wave has hit Great Britain, which is taking a toll on the British. Meteorologists have declared the temperature to be life-threatening, people have been urged to stay at home, and even education has been suspended.
Luton Airport had to be closed because the runway had melted, and they are working to repair the damage. In London, train tracks at the Vauxhall railway station were bent in the heat, due to which a safety check was carried out on the line, which caused disruption between Waterloo station and Clapham Junction, Borsonline reported in its compilation.
Buckingham Palace has reduced the changing of the guard to protect soldiers. Their ceremonial parade has been shortened to keep the Queen's Guard out in the midday sun too long, but the Guardsmen in their Canadian bearskins and red uniforms must still stand guard outside the palace.
A Canadian bearskin outfit would be intolerable for extended periods of time in the heat for the royal bodyguards.
