Pécs will celebrate August 20 without fireworks, mayor Attila Péterffy announced on his Facebook page.
As he wrote: Like other big cities, there will be no fireworks in Pécs on the celebration of the founding of the state. Instead of an expensive parade, the local government would rather use its resources for the people of Pécs and climate protection.
Regarding this, the pecsaktual.hu portal reported:
PÉCTES NEVER USED TO HAVE FIREWORKS IN AUGUST, AT LEAST THERE WAS NO EXAMPLE OF THIS IN THE LAST 13 YEARS. IT IS HIGHLY PROBABLE TO GUESS THAT THE CITY IS NOT PREPARED FOR THIS NOW; THEN WHY DID ATTILA PÉTERFFY SUGGEST THE OPPOSITE OF THIS?
