Recruitment of border hunters is underway; the hiring and training of the first 1,200 people can begin soon, so the soldiers and policemen currently serving at the border will be able to return to their units, the prime minister's chief adviser on internal security announced on the current channel M1.
György Bakondi emphasized that the situation of the Hungarian border guard is very complex and increasingly dangerous. They see armed migrant groups approaching the southern border every day. On the other side of the border, there is also the use of weapons, they fight for the control of a section of the border, and these clashes often result in casualties and deaths. In this section of the border, more than 132,000 border violators were caught this year, three times as many as in the same period last year, and about a thousand people smugglers, and this is twice as much as last year, the expert explained.
He added that, at the same time, there is also a lot of pressure on the Ukrainian border. A total of more than 865,000 people, an average of more than 10,000 per day, fled the war to Hungary. This is a difficult, long-lasting and costly task for the Hungarian military, law enforcement, municipal and charitable organizations, said the chief consultant.
György Bakondi touched on the fact that in the near future there will be an Austrian-Hungarian-Serbian tripartite conference on migration in order to strengthen border protection and eliminate armed criminal groups more effectively. Since 2015, Austria has been helping Hungary stop illegal migration.
