Although obliged to do so by law, the Jobbik Foundation for Hungary has not yet published last year's financial report on its website. The party's foundation received more than HUF 700 million in budget support last year, but there is no trace on the website of what the taxpayers' money is spent on, Magyar Nemzet reported.
The Jobbik Foundation for Hungary did not publish its 2021 economic report on its website more than a month after the deadline prescribed by law. According to the relevant law, party foundations are obliged to publish their report in the Official Notice published as an appendix to the Hungarian Gazette, as well as on their own website, in the year following the relevant year, no later than June 30. Jobbik partially failed to do this, as their account can only be found in the Official Gazette. According to this, the Jobbik foundation received more than seven hundred million forints in budget support, a substantial part of which, 513 million forints, was spent on their own media. They elaborate on it in the report: in 2020, the goal was to create a museum that would present the history and tangible memories of Jobbik in a purchased property, but due to the pandemic, its construction was postponed, and its completion can only take place this year.
At the same time, there is no report on the foundation's website, nor is there any trace of other activity, so it is not possible to track what the hundreds of millions of annual subsidies are used for.
The last entry under the menu item "supported events" was the realization and inauguration of the bronze bust of theologian Bishop László Ravasz "in the forecourt of the Church of Homecoming on August 30, 2015, as part of a series of events commemorating the 75th anniversary of the dedication of the church", for which the foundation provided 300,000 contributed HUF. There is no information on the website about the Gergely Pongrátz Cross of Merit award founded by Jobbik since 2016, although since then, for example, the horse archer Lajos Kassai and the revolutionary Levente Murányi '56, who recently left the party, have received the award.
However, according to the data on the foundation's website, Enikő Molnár, the advisor of former party leader Péter Jakab, is currently a member of the board of trustees. In spite of the fact that at the end of May, the leadership of Jobbik, led by Anita Potocskáné Kőrösi, rebelled against the adviser with too much power and stripped him of many of his powers.
According to press reports, Molnár then resigned from all his positions in Jobbik. More than two months later, according to the website, Enikő Molnár is still a member of the foundation's board of trustees.
The legality of the management of party foundations receiving budget support is checked by the State Audit Office every two years - on a mandatory basis. In June this year, the Court of Auditors completed the 2019-2020 audit of party foundations. audit of its management for the year, which revealed, among other things, that the Jobbik Magyarországért Foundation did not prepare the annual accounting report, the annual report on its activities, and thus did not ensure the accountability of the use of the budget support. They also stated that the validity of the annual report did not meet the legal requirements, did not ensure the legal and transparent, responsible management of public funds, and the accountability of the use of public funds neither for party members nor for other citizens.
