The Ipolysági Reformed Parish also organized several camps for local and surrounding youth during this year's summer vacation. In addition to community building, of course, great emphasis was placed on deepening faith and explaining the word of God.
In the first week of August, a day camp was organized for children between the ages of six and ten. This year, sport and the Olympics came to the fore.
At the camp, the children could see a play about the life of an athlete who comes to faith at the end of the story. The camp was guided by the word of God, the campers were introduced to the story of Nehemiah.
"God is able to rebuild the ruined walls, our lives can also be renewed in the presence of God," explained Adél Izsmán, one of the main organizers of the camp. He added: the children sang the songs glorifying God with us with great enthusiasm.
True to the Olympics, the camp Olympics were also opened in a ceremonial setting in the courtyard of the Reformed parish in Ipolyság. Each day, the participants could compete in one sport.
During the week, the children played bowling, soccer, foosball, basketball, and table tennis, among other things. On the last day, a real obstacle course awaited the campers in the gymnasium of the nearby primary school.
"God has given us many good skills, not only in the field of sports, but also in other fields, which are equally valuable. Our goal was to convey the word of God to the children and at the same time teach them to love sports," said Adél Izsmán.
Selfless helpers, church members and supporters helped run the camps. The implementation of the camps was supported by the Slovak Reformed Christian Church and the Hulp Oost Europa foundation.
