"America is like a banana republic" - another anti-Republican attack.
is from Republican Senator Scott Perry , whose cell phone was raided by the FBI while he was on vacation with his family...The incident occurred two days after the FBI raided former President Donald Trump's Mar-a-Lago residence and at least ten boxes of documents booked.
That raid was due to Trump's alleged failure to return all official documents to the National Archives after his electoral defeat, widely believed to have been rigged by Democrats. The term "allegedly" is appropriate because, as is well known, even the former president has not yet been told under what legal title his house was broken into.
All of this is really about the FBI finding at least one document that the ex-president could not have kept with him, so that he can be sued under this legal title, and even if he is convicted, he can be prevented from running for president again.
(Today's news: The FBI men wanted to be left alone, presumably so they "wouldn't witness what they were doing, what they were taking, or what they were bringing in," Donald Trump explained.)
Perry said that the FBI's actions in both cases resemble the horrors of a corrupt, third-world country. He himself was not surprised by this, and he suspects Attorney General Merrick Garland and the Democratic Party behind the events.
On his confiscated phone, conversations about his legislative and political activities, as well as traces of personal/private conversations with his wife, family, constituents and friends, can be found.
But "all this is not the government's business"
he added.
Attorney General Merrick Garland is the same person who made an unannounced visit to Ukraine in June and held a meeting with Ukrainian Attorney General Irina Venegyiktova in Lviv.
"I am here to express the unwavering support of the United States to the people of Ukraine in the face of the unprovoked and unwarranted Russian invasion," he declared. "The United States is sending an unmistakable message: 'there is nowhere to hide,' as America helps Ukraine identify, capture, and bring to justice Russian war criminals.
Garland can't sleep easy now (?) because the other day, Republican Senator Josh Hawley of Missouri said, “Garland needs to resign or be impeached. In Trump's case, the search warrant must be published, Christopher Wray, the FBI director, must be removed, and the agency must be reformed from top to bottom," he said.
The same was requested recently by Florida Republican Representative Anthony Sabatini, who called on the state to arrest FBI agents who conduct operations outside of Florida's jurisdiction. Then he added:
"State lawmakers should prohibit local agreements between state and local law enforcement agencies and the FBI, and require the FBI to obtain Florida's authorization before conducting operations within the state."
TheFederalist takes a slightly more distant view of the battle between Democrats and Republicans, but the columnist also mentions Garland's role as attorney general . They wrote this:
The Biden administration has made it clear that they will prosecute their political opponents at every opportunity. According to this, even though Republican House Minority Leader Kevin McCarthy has threatened to impeach Attorney General Merrick Garland in the next Congress, he will only be able to do so under a Republican administration.
While politicians like Hillary Clinton have been accused of similar crimes (as they are now trying to do against Trump if they have evidence - ed.) , indictments are extremely rare. For example, Bill Clinton's national security adviser, Sandy Berger, was prosecuted in 2004 for stealing and destroying classified documents about the Clinton administration's terrorism-related activities before testifying before the 9/11 Commission. General David Petraeus was similarly indicted for sharing secret documents with his lover.
However, neither Berger nor Petraeus have been charged with a crime, neither Berger's nor Petraeus' homes have been raided, and neither man has spent a single day in jail.
That's what makes the FBI raid of Trump's Mar-a-Lago home so shocking — so much so that everyone from former Democratic New York Gov. Andrew Cuomo to the liberal Bloomberg editorial board to Playbook have voiced their concerns.
Despite the attacks on the former president, some Republican lawmakers still have faith in the FBI. But regardless of their motivations, their helpless silence in the face of the Biden administration's accusations, arrests, and raids reveals their inability to handle the crisis of the American state.
The only way to fight back is for people who have armed and undermined the American state to suffer for their actions. Those who arrested their enemies revived the vague rules and raided their opponents' homes in guerilla raids. And they won't regret it until they feel the same pain, TheFederalist wrote.
