The awarding of the title of honorary citizen was unanimously supported by the local government board.
István Tarlós was praised by the mayor of Csepel, Lénárd Borbély, who called the period when István Tarlós led the city the most successful period in Budapest, emphasizing that it was during that period that Budapest became the nation's capital.
