Zoltán Kovács, the head of the operative group responsible for the safe conduct of the national holiday on August 20, wrote on his Facebook page early Saturday evening:
Based on the information received during the day by the operative group responsible for the safe conduct of the St. Stephen's Day holiday, it can be said that the festive events took place safely on August 20, despite the bad weather conditions.
On Saturday, 414 events are held nationally: of these, 334 are state or municipal events, 55 are cultural events, 7 are covered by the Assembly Act, and 18 are of a different nature. By 6 p.m., 204 events had ended, 133 were in progress, 46 had not started, while 31 were missed.
All over the country, holiday programs are taking place in the greatest order, without police measures.
The Holy Crown was visited by 5,920 people until 6 p.m.
As we previously indicated, the fireworks planned for 9 p.m. were postponed by the operational staff. According to the plans, the new date of the fireworks is Saturday, August 27, 2022, 9 p.m.
We respectfully ask all interested parties to get detailed information about St. Stephen's Day events and weather conditions on the application and website of the program series, as well as on the website of the National Meteorological Service and media reports.
