Ukraine was reborn when Russia attacked the country on February 24, Ukrainian President Volodymyr Zelenskyy declared on Wednesday on the occasion of the 31st anniversary of the country's independence.

In his speech broadcast on the recording, he explained: while he used to think that the war could end when there was peace, now he thinks that the fighting will end when Ukraine wins.
Independence Day coincides with the start of the Russian offensive six months ago. On Wednesday, Ukraine is celebrating the fact that the country seceded from the Soviet Union in August 1991, after a failed coup in Moscow, and the overwhelming majority of Ukrainians decided to do so in a referendum.
