President of the Republic Katalin Novák, speaking to the students at the opening ceremony of the Budapest Corvinus University in the Várkert Bazar on Sunday, emphasized: she would like the main goal of universities in Hungary to be teaching thinking and encouraging critical thinking, in addition to imparting competitive knowledge.

Katalin Novák asked the students to "become people worth learning from, and for whom it was also worth learning and working for us." The President of the Republic pointed out: we are not in a time of peace, as there is a war going on in our neighborhood, and before that an epidemic swept the world. Because of this, a more difficult economic situation greeted us everywhere, not only in the war-torn zone. Many countries, including Hungary, are facing energy difficulties and supply problems. We will be faced with logistical challenges, while the importance of international relations, active participation in international blood circulation and concern for the state of the Earth will increase .

Katalin Novák said: the answer to these challenges can be found in the various university courses, the students get the answers to these questions by acquiring the appropriate knowledge during their university years. He recalled that Corvinus University was a pioneer in university transformations, the first university that could operate in a renewed form.

The university years can give support, knowledge, reality of life, lifelong friendships and relationships beyond friendship, said Katalin Novák.

Rector Előd Takats spoke about the fact that true success has three pillars: talent, opportunity and responsibility. Students admitted to Corvinus can acquire internationally recognized knowledge and they are given every opportunity to develop their talents, he pointed out.

He also drew attention to the importance of responsibility, in the spirit of which the Gyula Illyés program was launched, among other things, to prepare talented, disadvantaged students for a successful university career.
