The councilors of the municipality of Bánffyhunyad (Huedin in Romanian) rejected with a majority vote to take over the management and operation of the kindergarten built with Hungarian support.
At Wednesday's council meeting, it failed with 6 votes against and 3 abstentions, only RMDSZ politicians supported taking over the kindergarten - wrote Főtér , according to which the Romanian councilors did not like the fact that there would be only Hungarian-speaking classes and groups in the institution.
The situation is clearly against the interests of the Hungarian and Romanian community in Bánffyhunyad," said Csoma Botond, president of the RMDSZ of Cluj County.
The building was built on the plot of the Reformed denomination with the support of the government as part of the Carpathian Basin Kindergarten Development Program. The biggest opponent of the kindergarten was PSD politician Oana Goga, who complained that only Hungarian-language kindergartens and kindergartens would operate. According to the deputy mayor of Bánffyhunyad, the rejection of the Romanian councilors hit them like a huge slap in the face. He told Transtelex that this hurts only because anti-Hungarian sentiment is not typical of the city anyway.
Gyula Jakab Mihály, pastor of the Bánffyhunyadi Reformed Parish, told the portal that although nursery schools and kindergartens were built in many locations throughout Transylvania within the framework of the Carpathian Basin Preschool Development Program, only in Bánffyhunyad did the local decision-makers show rejection.
